Universal Studio Singapore rocks!

Fun, exciting, awesome! Itu pendapat ringkas saya berkenaan Universal Studio Singapore. Walaupun cuaca terik dan hangat, tak menjejaskan semangat saya untuk explore park ni. Rasa bersalah pun ada la juga sebab tak bawa anak-anak, insyaallah, if ada masa, ada rezeki, boleh la bawa the kids pula :) sabar ye abang dan adik!

So, di mana terletaknya USS ni? It is actually located at Sentosa Island, and to travel to this place, you all boleh naik MRT sampai Harbour Front (Vivocity). From there, you all ada option -samada naik cable car, naik monorail, jalan kaki (serius meh?) or naik bas. Kami pula decide naik monorail iaitu Sentosa Express. Cuma 3 dollar (lebih kurang RM7.20) harga tiket untuk pergi dan balik. Dan, dengan harga ni, you all boleh round the whole Sentosa Island, berhentilah kat mana-mana station dalam Sentosa tu; samada Waterfront station, Imbiah Station or Beach Station. Our main aim adalah Universal Studio, so our first pit stop adalah Waterfront station.

Peringatan ye. Nak masuk USS, you all kena purchase dulu tiket awal-awal secara online ataupun make direct call +65-6577 8899. Thanks to Kak Lila sebab inform us :) Klik sini untuk reservation ticket. Make sure bila dah berjaya purchase, print out ticket tersebut dan bawa sekali waktu nak masuk USS ni. Saya tak pasti boleh tak purchase directly dari kaunter tiket kat sini, but apa yang probably berlaku, ticket may sold-out dan you all tak dapat pula masuk park ni. Tak ke haru?

First section that we went ialah Hollywood and New York. Jangan lupa untuk test masuk semua places kat situ, yang best adalah Lights!Camera!Action! hosted by Steven Spielberg. Ini untuk feel sendiri sound effect dalam a real film. We manage to capture a picture with a lady (tak tahu character apa ye?) and Charlie Chaplin.

Next, we went to Sci-Fi city. Nothing much interesting here except if you love challenges and height, boleh test jatidiri dengan naik all roller-coasters kat sini – Human and Cylon. Macam kami-kami yang dah umur lebih 3 dekad ni, bergambar aje ye.Tak lama lagi, akan ada Transformer section dalam ni, in website mention to be opened in 2011.

Then, Ancient Egypt. Tak explore sangat sebab ada roller-coaster juga. Cuma naik vintage car at Treasure Hunter sebab kurang mencabar kejakunan diri kot..hehe. Ok lah, dibawanya round-round sekitar lake, tengok harta karun etc. Oh ya, dapat bergambar dengan these characters. Yang lady tu censored sikit ye (amboiii..lebar betul senyum encik suami ye)

Next, Lost World. First yang kami cuba ialah Jurassic Park Rapid Adventure. Peringatan lagi. Belilah plastic jacket around 2 dollars (or bawa sendiri kalau ada) sebab nak naik menatang ni, you all akan get wet. Dahlah barang-barang tak boleh bawa sekali, so kena lock dulu dalam locker, harga locker 4 dollars. Bila dah lock semua barang dan beratur kat dalam, tengok majority semua standby pakai plastic. Nasib baik ada dapat cover tu dari visitors yang dah keluar dari that tube. Tapi, basah jugak..Kurennggg asam..

Dalam section Lost World ni ada Waterworld. You can experience duduk dalam this amphitheatre dan watch live-show how Waterworld movie was filmed. Not bad la..again, ada part-part yang kena splash juga, jadi plastic cover tadi boleh membantu.

OK, bila perut dah mula berkeroncong, make sure cari café atau foodcourt yang ada Halal certificate ok, sebab tak semua café ada sijil halal. Next, we all head to Far Far Away. Haaa..ini yang paling best. We manage to watch Shrek 4-D Adventure. See, I wore this 4D glass eyeview :)

And, the last section, Madagascar. Susah saya cari toy yang sesuai untuk anak-anak saya, tapi takde yang berkenan di hati. Tengah-tengah membelek, Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman and the penguins pun datang buat show, cute giler diaorang dance lagu I Like to Move it Move it. After that, dapatlah bergambar dengan penguins comel ni.

Not forgetting, this unique bottle drinks for our kiddos:
We had spend almost a day dalam park. Jadi, pastikan if you all nak datang sini, plan betul-betul hari dan waktunya ok. Till then, bye!

Jom pi Singapore

Seperti yang dijanjikan, saya akhirnya dapat juga post entry di Singapore. Banyak cara sebenarnya nak ke Singapore ye, lebih-lebih lagi Malaysia ni next neighbour je kan. Boleh naik bas, naik train, naik flight, nak lebih adventure bawa la kereta, but we choose to travel via flight sebab ada promo tiket, tiket depart just RM25 seorang and tiket return mahal sikit, RM150 seorang. Don't worry pasal transport kat sana, or hotel ke. Cari je dalam website, hotel area Paya Lebar or Al-Juned or Geylang, sebab sini banyak halal food.

Public transport system kat Singapore pun very efficient, ada MRT, ada bas yang sistematik bernombor bagai, punctual pula tu dan pergilah mana-mana tempat attraction kat Singapore, mesti ada stesyennya. Cuma satu je yang saya kurang berkenan tentang MRT ni, after you purchase the ticket, you have to return the ticket kat machine untuk ambil balik deposit. Sebabnya, ticket tu they will recycle semula, jadi taklah berlaku pembaziran, but bagi traveller macam saya ni rasa leceh sikit sebab each time berhenti kat last station, we have to go to the machine, insert semula ticket then dapat le balik deposit dalam coin, SGD1 (1 singapore dollar=RM2.40)

So, these are the places:

1. Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Bergambar juga laaa...walaupun tengok dari jauh je. Kalau nak dapat best view, naik MRT sampai Raffles station, then jalan kaki la sikit ke bridge dekat dengan Merlion, the famous statue of Singapore tu

2. Esplanade

Espalande is a building for theater or musical show. Lokasinya pula sama macam Marina Bay Sands tadi, naik MRT sampai Raffle and then just walk along the bridge. 

3. Merlion statue

Lokasinya berdekatan dengan Esplanade. Agak malang sikit bagi kami bila sampai ke sini. Sebabnya...this famous statue dalam renovation process #nangisss...duduk dalam hoarding tinggi bersangkar lagi. It's due to pembinaan hotel di situ, jadi Merlion statue ni akan diletakkan dalam hotel tu sekali. Jadi, last-last bergambar dengan statue Merlion yang kecik sikit, maybe anak dia la kot..

4. Chinatown

Nak cari souvenir for friends and family? Chinatown is the paradise! Nak pergi sini, senang je, naik MRT stop at Chinatown. 

5. Arab street

Kalau nak cari kain pasang, lace and other barang-barang yang berciri kemelayuan, boleh la jalan ke Arab street pula. Naik MRT sampai ke Bugis station. Kat Arab street ni, you mesti pergi Masjid Sultan, di mana masjid ni adalah masjid tertua di Singapore. Banyak juga bas-bas dari Malaysia berhenti kat sini. Ada satu muzium kat sini iaitu Malay Heritage Centre, Kampung Glam. 

6. Little India

Dari Chinatown, ke area Melayu, then area India pulak. Kat sini cuma sightseeing sahaja and ada juga 1-2 shops yang colorful dan looks aesthetic sikit.

7. Orchard Road

To high end lovers, your shopping heaven terletak di Orchard Road. Naik MRT then stop at station Orchard atau Somerset. Kiri, kanan, sepanjang jalan name all the brands you want.  We pass through this Orchard Road ni sebenarnya untuk ke HRC

8. Hard Rock Cafe, Singapore

HRC di Singapore terletak di sebelah Hilton Hotel, so agak jauh juga berjalan ke sini dari station Orchard. Those yang collecting, jangan lupa singgah.


Ada lagi few places lain yang kami visit, like statue Raffles, tapi itupun dalam sangkar juga sebab under renovation.

ICSSH 2011 - IEEE Conference in Singapore

Salam..

If you read this entry, ada yang saya update berkenaan dengan seminar di Singapura ini. The most sempoi conference yang pernah saya attend..Hehe..Why sempoi? Because it's very flexi and high indexed conference but yet I manage to meet professors/researchers yang sangat arif dalam bidang masing-masing and also manage to build networking with participants yang bukan calang-calang orang. Terasa kerdil sungguh diri ini..hehe..and they are so humble. Bilalah nak capai macam tu iye??? *Berangan sat.

All papers included in the proceedings are indexed by IEEE. An institution with a high impact index. Maka, tak hairanlah banyak paper especially from UiTM submitted to the conference proceedings. Mula-mula sampai, I was a bit confused sebab rupanya ada dua seminar yang dianjurkan serentak by the same organizer, one is ICEFR (Economics and Financial Research) and another one is ICSSH (Social Science and Humanities). My turn to present is on Monday, morning session, pukul 9.00 pagi pula tu. I was the second presenter in the session, and during that time, about 20 participants/audience were in the room session. Due to time constraint (because there are 10 papers need to be presented within one session - 9.00am to 10.30am), hence, question and answer were conducted after presentation, during coffee break. Very simple. I like!!

Habis seminar, so petangnya we head back to Changi Airport..Dah tak sabar nak balik wokk, rindu kat anak-anak gamaknya. Lucky for us sebab check-in di Terminal 1, and we heard Hard Rock Changi is in Terminal 3. Since it connected via Skytrain, so, we all pun spent time lama juga la dalam terminal Changi ni untuk look for last-minute items. Generally perfurmes, cosmetics, are cheaper dari price di Malaysia (after conversion). So, setelah melaksanakan cost comparison dan feasibility study (apa kena mengena pun kau jangan tanya), dapatlah perfume Pleasure and SKII treatment essence yang kecik aje 75ml. Not forgetting shotglass Kak Lila at Hard Rock Changi :)

So, thats all for the conference update. Entry yang seterusnya pula akan saya setory pasal interesting places in Singapore...wahhh feeling travel agent pula aku. Tapi, satu entry khas akan saya buat untuk Universal Studio Singapore sahaja..sebab....its truly AWESOME!!!!! Nantikan.. hehehe...but, tunggu la dua tiga minggu lagi...sekarang nak cerita, panas lagi bebeh..ambik gambar ni sebagai pemanas badan..
